Event VolunteersAll good things must come to an end and the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon marked the end of our events for 2016.  

We're delighted to annouce a new series of trainings and e-learning trainings programmes for volunteers will be taking place over the 2016 Winter period.  

Details for our 2017 programmes will be advertised in line early in the New Year.  We'd like to say a big thank you to all our hard working dedicated volunteers who engaged with us during 2016.

Giro d'Italia Big Start 2014Il Giro D’Italia è una delle più importanti gare della tradizione ciclistica. Prestigioso appuntamento della stagione, è una delle corse più impegnative al mondo. Quest'anno il Giro partirà da Belfast, nell'Irlanda del Nord, toccando poi Armagh, per proseguire lungo la scenografica costa orientale attraverso Balbriggan, Skerries e Malahide, prima di giungere al traguardo, davanti al Palazzo del Governo a Dublino.

Sarà un'occasione unica per veder sfrecciare le teste di serie del ciclismo internazionale attraverso l'Irlanda del Nord e la Repubblica d'Irlanda. In associazione con la Events Unit del Fingal County Council, siamo lieti di poter contare sull'impegno attivo di volontari per questo evento. Cerchiamo volontari entusiasti, affidabili e coscienziosi che fungano da Ambasciatori per la corsa nel momento in cui attraverserà la contea di Fingal. I nostri sforzi saranno concentrati in due punti: il castello di Ardgillan e Malahide. Tutti i volontari dovranno seguire una breve formazione. Verranno forniti badge identificativi e supporto. Giro d'Italia Big Start Volunteer Programme 2014
The Giro D’Italia is one of the largest classic road cycle races. The race is one of the highlights of the cycling season and is one of the toughest cycle races in the world. The year the race has its big start in Belfast, Northern Ireland before making its way through Armagh before running down the scenic East Coast through Balbriggan, Skerries and Malahide before heading to the finish line outside Government Buildings, Dublin. This is a once in a lifetime experience to see top class cyclists make their way through Northern Ireland and Ireland.

In association with the Events Unit in Fingal County Council we are delighted to have Event Volunteers engaged in this event. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, safety conscious volunteers to be Ambassadors and for this event as it makes it way through County Fingal and our efforts will be focused in two main locations: Ardgillan Castle and Malahide. Training will be provided which all volunteers must attend. Support and recognition will be provided. Roles open to those aged 16 and over.

Roles for this event include:

• Crowd Marshalling
• Providing information to the general public
• Ensuring the safety of the general public at the event
• Directions and information giving
• Acting as Ambassadors for this great event.

Event & Volunteer Management Internship (Blanchardstown)

Fingal Volunteer Centre aim to promote, support and encourage volunteering and good practice in volunteering.

What's Involved
Our Organisation Fingal Volunteer Centre is an independent and free matching service to encourage more people to become involved in volunteering across the county. We aim to promote, support and encourage volunteering and good practice in volunteering. Our role is to provide information and advice to people interested in volunteering and to organisations looking for volunteers.

Fingal Volunteer Centre acts as link between such organisations and individuals. We will advertise vacancies, advise people on their options and help organisations support their volunteers by adopting principles of best practice.

Recently our staff have been involved in Volunteer Management of a number of large public events including: Dublin Tall Ships Festival 2012, NYE Dublin 2013, Malahide’s UberFest.

We are currently working with a number of key players in event management in Fingal to run volunteer programmes for their events. These flagship events will include Flavours of Fingal 2014 and the Giro d'Italia stages in Fingal The events will include major public events in Fingal in 2014.

We will be recruiting, selecting, training and managing volunteers for these programmes.

Overview of the Intern Role
The Event & Volunteer Management Intern will play a key role in each event, and will assist and support the office team. The aim of the internship is to provide valuable insight and experience in event and volunteer planning, co-ordination, and management.

Volunteers for the Giro d’Italia Cycle Race will be based in either Balbriggan, Skerries or Malahide and transport will be provided from a central location on that day. Event Volunteers lend a hand for the arrival of Santa at F2 Centre, Rialto

Event Volunteers give Santa at hand at his arrival at the F2 Centre, RialtoEvents Volunteers were delighted to play our part in making Santa's arrival at the F2 Centre in Rialto a little bit magical.

Our Volunteer Hub was on site and doubled as a hot chocolate station (yum) for all the volunteers and helpers on the night.  Even Santa commented on how well the tent was branded for Christmas.  'Dont forget Santa ... We're here to Help"

Event Volunteers on television on St. Stephen's Day (December 26)

Some of our hard working Event Volunteers at the CASA Breakhouse in Malahide as part of the TV Programme - At Your Service To The RescueEvent Volunteers were delighted to be asked to be part of the Christmas Special of At Your Service - To the Rescue which will be broadcast on RTÉ One on St. Stephen's Day, Thursday 26 December from 20:00 to 21:00.  Event Volunteers were on hand to assist the Brennan Brothers with the makeover of the CASA Breakhouse in Malahide, Dublin.

A nationwide call went out for volunteers, expertise and materials to makeover the house in one week. A fantastic team of volunteers and builders came on board to help out witht he maekover of the CASA Breakhouse.  Check out the show in RTÉ One on Stephen's Day and see how we got on.  The programme will be available on the RTÉ Player from December 27th.  Behind the scenes photographs to let you see all the hard work that goes into a project of this size will be available from www.eventvolunteers.ie from December 27th.

Event Volunteers would like to again congratulate our dedicated hard working volunteers for their contribution to make the programme and the makover, and thanks also goes to Waddell Media, RTÉ and Leah Carroll, our photographer.

Event Volunteers play their part in RTE One TV Programme - At Your Service

atyourserviceEvent Volunteers were approached to play an important role in the RTÉ One Television Show At Your Service which is broadcasting a special show this December.  

We were delighted to assist with makeover of the Respite Centre, in particular our work focused on a major overhaul of the garden area along with internal work to the house.

We can't tell you the outcome but do turn in to watch the show this Christmas on RTÉ One. We will have our behind the scenes photographs up on the web site after the broadcast date.

The Brennan brothers are back for a special Christmas episode of At Your Service. Francis and John are coming to the aid of sixteen-year-old Conor Dillon and an Irish charity close to his heart, CASA (Caring and Sharing Association). Conor uses the CASA Respite Centre in Malahide, which it is in need of a revamp and the Brennan’s are going to make some changes.

The At Your Service Christmas Special will be broadcast on RTÉ One from 20:00 to 21:00 on St. Stephen's Day (26 December 2013).  If you miss the programme you can always catch up with it on the RTÉ Player.

Event Volunteers nominated for two awards for excellent Volunteer Management Practice

Event Volunteers nominated for local and International AwardsWe are delighted to announce that Event Volunteers have been nominated for two awards; Fingal County Council's Community Group of the Year Award and an ACE Active Citizens of Europe Award with VolontEurope which will be presented in Bucharest later this month.

Speaking at the announcement of the nominations, the manager of Fingal Volunteer Centre said "We are both excited and really proud of all of our hard working dedicated Event Volunteers who have given freely of their time for these events over the last year which has meant we've been nominated for these awards. To be nominated in our first year is a great achievement - well done to all our Event Volunteers, past and present.” They went on to say “Being recognised at a local and international level for our commitment to acting as ambassadors for these events makes us as organisation extremely proud of our volunteers, it also recognises our ongoing commitment to providing the best support to our volunteers in achieving best practice in volunteer management”.

Event Volunteers is an initiative of Fingal Volunteer Centre and is supported by Fingal County Council’s Events & Emergency Management Unit. Event Volunteers encourages anyone aged 16 or over to volunteer in a wide range of public events in a supported and recognised manner. Our staff and volunteers are all experienced Volunteer Managers and have been involved in large scale volunteer involving events including; Dublin Tall Ships Festival 2012, NYE Dublin 2013, Malahide’s ÜberFest, Medieval Mayhem, Fingal Festival of Football, RSA International Cricket Match, Flavours of Fingal County Show and the World Police and Fire Games. 

Event Volunteers is made up of over 110 volunteers from 19 different nationalities aged between 16 and 76. All of whom give freely of their time to volunteer at these fantastic events. What makes Event Volunteers different is their experience and training systems. All volunteers are trained and orientated before each event and all events have at least two volunteer managers on site to ensure that the volunteers receive the best support and recognition possible.

The Fingal Community Group of the Year awards will be presented at an Awards Ceremony in Draíocht Arts Centre in Blanchardstown on October 16. The ACE Active Citizens of Europe Awards will be presented in Bucharest, Romania on October 17. Best wishes to all our fellow nominees at both award ceremonies. Event Volunteers is managed by Fingal Volunteer Centre, based in Blanchardstown and operated from nine outreach locations across Fingal County. The Volunteer Centre is funded by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.

Event Volunteers and Mayor of Fingal Clllr. Ciaran DennisonThe Mayor of Fingal Cllr. Ciaran Dennison has personally thanked Event Volunteers and Fingal Volunteer Centre for their dedication and hard work at the presentation of medals at the Fingal Festival of Football in AUL, Clonshaugh.

Ciaran was on hand with John Delaney of the FAI to present medals and took some time out to personally thanks the volunteers.

Event Volunteers for Fingal Festival of Football - Saturday 17 August
The Fingal Festival of Football takes place on Saturday 17 August and is an annual event that is hosted by Fingal County Council. It started in a much smaller format as the 'Harmony Cup' but has grown immensely since then. In the past there have been teams from all over Ireland and Europe participating in this magnificent youth sports event.

This year is a special anniversary as we are celebrating 11 years of the festival. The Fingal Festival of Football is a unique event as it includes boys and girls football as well as participants with intellectual and physical disabilities. In the past there have been youth teams travelling from the UK, Italy, Germany and Spain to play in the Fingal competition and this year promises to be even better than last year.

This volunteer role will be working as parts of the events team with Fingal Volunteer Centre and the Events Office in Fingal County Council providing support and results back to Event Control and ensuring teams and players are in the correct location and pitch.

Event Volunteers for Ireland v. England Cricket Match. Malahide, Tuesday 3 September
Event volunteers are needed for the Fortress Malahide for the RSA Challenge Ireland v. England Cricket, Tuesday 3 September 2013. Volunteers will be involved in welcoming spectators and providing support to the Events Team. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and motivated volunteers to be Ambassadors for this event. Volunteer roles all cover seating arrangements of the event. Full orientation, support and recognition will be provided. Roles open to those aged 16 and over.

These are non spectator roles. Volunteer Programme managed by Fingal Volunteer Centre.

Event Volunteers for Flavours of Fingal County Festival, Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 September
Do you want to be part of Fingal’s Family, Food and Farm Show which takes place in Newbridge House & Gardens, Donabate, Fingal, County Dublin. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and motivated volunteers to be Ambassadors for this event. Volunteer roles cover all aspects of the event.

Full orientation, support and recognition will be provided. Roles open to those aged 16 and over. Volunteer Programme managed by Fingal Volunteer Centre.
