We’re taking our Winter break, see you in 2016

Event VolunteersAll good things must come to an end and the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon marked the end of our events for 2015.  We’re delighted to annouce a new series of trainings and e-learning trainings programmes for volunteers  will launched in the new year.  Details for our 2016 programmes will be advertised in line early in the New Year.  We’d like to say a big thank you to all our hard working dedicated volunteers who engaged with us during 2015.

Event Volunteers to present at 23rd World Volunteer Conference in September 2014

Event Volunteers Giro d'Italia Big Start 2014 in FingalFingal Volunteer Centre and Event Volunteers are delighted to announce that we will be presenting on our Event Volunteers project this September at the International Association of Voluntary Effort (IAVE) 23rd World Volunteer Conference in Brisbane, Australia.

Event Volunteers will be presenting alongside our colleagues from Korea and the Russia Federation, under the topic “Wisdom of the Crowd – Volunteers and Major Events” So no pressure there.

This is both a delight and an honour for Event Volunteers to be showcased alongside our much bigger presenters and to represent Ireland on the International stage. The conference takes place every two years and highlights excellence and good practice in Volunteer Management. This is the first time a project from the Republic of Ireland will be highlighted at the World Volunteer Conference .

Giro d'Italia Big Start 2014Il Giro D’Italia è una delle più importanti gare della tradizione ciclistica. Prestigioso appuntamento della stagione, è una delle corse più impegnative al mondo. Quest’anno il Giro partirà da Belfast, nell’Irlanda del Nord, toccando poi Armagh, per proseguire lungo la scenografica costa orientale attraverso Balbriggan, Skerries e Malahide, prima di giungere al traguardo, davanti al Palazzo del Governo a Dublino.

Sarà un’occasione unica per veder sfrecciare le teste di serie del ciclismo internazionale attraverso l’Irlanda del Nord e la Repubblica d’Irlanda. In associazione con la Events Unit del Fingal County Council, siamo lieti di poter contare sull’impegno attivo di volontari per questo evento. Cerchiamo volontari entusiasti, affidabili e coscienziosi che fungano da Ambasciatori per la corsa nel momento in cui attraverserà la contea di Fingal. I nostri sforzi saranno concentrati in due punti: il castello di Ardgillan e Malahide. Tutti i volontari dovranno seguire una breve formazione. Verranno forniti badge identificativi e supporto. Le iscrizioni sono aperte ai maggiori di 16 anni.

Le mansioni previste includono:

• Servizio d’ordine
• Informazioni al pubblico
• Sicurezza del pubblico durante l’evento
• Indicazioni

Giro d’Italia Big Start Volunteer Programme 2014
The Giro D’Italia is one of the largest classic road cycle races. The race is one of the highlights of the cycling season and is one of the toughest cycle races in the world. The year the race has its big start in Belfast, Northern Ireland before making its way through Armagh before running down the scenic East Coast through Balbriggan, Skerries and Malahide before heading to the finish line outside Government Buildings, Dublin. This is a once in a lifetime experience to see top class cyclists make their way through Northern Ireland and Ireland.

In association with the Events Unit in Fingal County Council we are delighted to have Event Volunteers engaged in this event. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, safety conscious volunteers to be Ambassadors and for this event as it makes it way through County Fingal and our efforts will be focused in two main locations: Ardgillan Castle and Malahide. Training will be provided which all volunteers must attend. Support and recognition will be provided. Roles open to those aged 16 and over.

Roles for this event include:

• Crowd Marshalling
• Providing information to the general public
• Ensuring the safety of the general public at the event
• Directions and information giving
• Acting as Ambassadors for this great event.

Event & Volunteer Management Internship (Blanchardstown)

Fingal Volunteer Centre aim to promote, support and encourage volunteering and good practice in volunteering.

What’s Involved
Our Organisation Fingal Volunteer Centre is an independent and free matching service to encourage more people to become involved in volunteering across the county. We aim to promote, support and encourage volunteering and good practice in volunteering. Our role is to provide information and advice to people interested in volunteering and to organisations looking for volunteers.

Fingal Volunteer Centre acts as link between such organisations and individuals. We will advertise vacancies, advise people on their options and help organisations support their volunteers by adopting principles of best practice.

Recently our staff have been involved in Volunteer Management of a number of large public events including: Dublin Tall Ships Festival 2012, NYE Dublin 2013, Malahide’s UberFest.

We are currently working with a number of key players in event management in Fingal to run volunteer programmes for their events. These flagship events will include Flavours of Fingal 2014 and the Giro d’Italia stages in Fingal The events will include major public events in Fingal in 2014.

We will be recruiting, selecting, training and managing volunteers for these programmes.

Overview of the Intern Role
The Event & Volunteer Management Intern will play a key role in each event, and will assist and support the office team. The aim of the internship is to provide valuable insight and experience in event and volunteer planning, co-ordination, and management.
